This content references Pega Express in regards to App Studio. The Pega Express product was renamed “App Studio” starting in v8.

Pega Express 8.1.1 - how to start a new application???

Hi, all the links and videos talking about Pega Express and starting a NEW application are for 7.3 and older. The material does not seem to reflect any experience with what is in Express when you login.

How do you create a NEW application from scratch in pega Express 8.1.1 ???

The most direct way to create a new application is to use the New Application wizard, which is accessible in Dev Studio. App Studio, the next iteration of the Express experience released with Pega Infinity, is designed to allow users to quickly enable application functionality for an existing applictaion. 

To create a new empty application you can follow these steps to run the new application wizard in Pega Infinity, which will create the needed components of a new application for you.  You must have access to Dev Studio in order to create a new application. 

  • Log into the system
  • Switch to Dev Studio: This can be done by selecting Dev Studio from the workspace selector in the upper left corner of the screen.

  •  Once in Dev Studio, open the applictaion menu
  • Select the "New Application" option to start the new application wizard

  • The new application wizard will give you a choice to create a new application from a one of the template applications on the system.​
    • The "Custom" option will create an empty application ready to be crafted to met your business needs.
