Pega-7.1.9 - Default Validation Error messages
Why does pega adds "**" before all the validate error messages. Is there a specific reason to do it?
How can we customise or remove the ** from error messages across the application level?
My client doe snot want to see the "**". Prefers to have "-" instead.

If we think of this as two distinct layers, the detection layer and the presentation layer, it may be simpler for you to modify only the presentation layer, so your users don't see the unwanted asterisks, while leaving the detection layer unmodified, which stores the error with the asterisks.
Please try using the custom error section, available on the Display Options tab of the harness rule, to modify the presentation layer. Be sure to check the documentation for what is required in your custom error section, and make sure the section is included on your layout.

Are you talking about Validate rules (OR) Post action activity of a flow action.
I wanted to reproduce thus simple use case, but was not able to reproduce the ** error message on top of the screen any more.
I see the error flagged like below when I use validate rule
Post action activity also does something similar.
Could you tell me exactly what you used to reproduce so that I can check if the particular rule is configurable ?
Alternately, you can use LiveUI to check how this section is displayed and check if its an available rule that can be customized.

Thanks for the reply Eric & Kirthigasree.
Just as sample, I am attaching this generic error.. the "**" is displayed between the property name and the error.
I will try customizing the rules as suggested by Eric/you. Just wanted to find out if there is any quick way to fix this.

The only way to remove asterisk is to customise the error section I believe. There is not a quicker way than this approach. At the moment (after long discussions) our customer has agreed to go live with **.
