need clarification on agent wide settings interval field
Hi,
We have a filed Interval at agent wide settings part of agent rule form schedule tab. Can some one please provide me what is Interval exactly used for?.
In help content I saw like it is default periodic interval for agents that does not has interval defined. But if we have not defined the interval time in interval column of agent, it will not allow to save our rule. Then how does this interval at agent wide settings will be useful. Please clarify me. Thanks in advance....

Hi,
The interval mentioned at the agent level, will be considered, if we don't mention any value under Agent-Wide settings . By default the value will be 30.

Hi,
My doubt is what is the use of interval that is present at agent wide settings?. Anyway with out giving interval at individual agent (test in above screen shot) we can't save our agent rule. So how the interval at agent wide settings is used?. Please clarify me on this prospective.

Hi,
I have checked with SME's and found that, interval in Agent-Wide settings is provided for backward compatibility.
In 5.x the interval column, at each agent level , was not a mandatory field.

Hi,
So in recent releases (Pega 6,7) if we are creating any new agent rule then the interval at agent wide settings has no use. Am I correct?.

Hi,
Please find the details below on the interval of Agent Wide settings:
This provides a default value for all agents listed in the rule that are set to have a Pattern of Periodic
but do not have a value specified in their Interval field. Enter the amount of time, in seconds, that an agent waits between running its activity. This value must be at least five seconds.

Hi,
I think you have not gone through our complete discussion. As per your comment, if no value for periodic agent interval column then this agent wide interval works as an default but here the case is agent interval is mandatory so there is no chance of having no value for agent interval.
And as per the reply from Haritha, currently this agent wide interval is just for backward compactability as the agent interval in version 5 is non mandatory. So as per this answer I just need confirmation that in recent releases (pega 6,7), if we are creating any new agent rule, does this agent wide interval has no use?. or it has any impact?.

You may not have to set the interval under 'Agent wide settings' unless you have not specified any interval value to any of the agents listed in the agents ruleform and wants to have a default interval for the agent scheduled as periodic with no interval value set in 'Scheduled agents' section.
