Looking for SilverLight replacement

Is there any solution for Silverlight replacement?

 Currently we are using word merge functionality and Silverlight to open a word template  and populate clipboard values by performing an action and the user can edit and save the template automatically without downloading and attaching. 

 

We are looking for similar solution without silverlight.

Users doesn't like to download and attach the template manually everytime
