Limitations of Reversing a Pega Upgarde

Hi,

We are planning to patch our application from pega 8.6.3 to next highest patch. I am following the upgrade guide according to it 

"If new Data- instances (including Work- instances) are created by using data objects modified by the upgrade process, the new instances might not function properly after reversal."

Can I know how can we deal with the above situation and other drawbacks of reversing an upgrade using 'reverse.sh'.

Can someone from Pega acknowledge and suggest? The documentation is very vague and Pega doesn't recommend how to address this limitation. It looks like patching Pega has become tedious in Pega8 when compared to Pega7.
