"$libdir/plpgsql": No such file or directory Error

We're seeing the following error quite constantly in one of our environments and it seems to be affecting the creation of queue items. Is there any insight you can provide as to how to resolve it?

ERROR   - Problem with browse of System-Queue-Events 
com.pega.pegarules.pub.database.DatabaseException: There was a problem getting a list: code: 0 SQLState: 58P01 Message: ERROR: could not access file "$libdir/plpgsql": No such file or directory 
DatabaseException caused by prior exception: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: could not access file "$libdir/plpgsql": No such file or directory
