Is it possible to save the search index during migrations?
Hi,
I am upgrading from JBoss EAP 7.0 to 7.3 with a clean install, Pega tmp with the search index folder is located outside the JBoss directory. Is it possible to get Pega to use the "old" search index instead of starting to re-index?
I've tried forcing it via JVM arguments, but Pega insists on re-indexing.

I don't know what you mean by "PEGA insists on re-indexing" but if you just change your application servers you should be able to keep (copy/paste or mount) your old index directory if node ID is still same and path/directory also remain.
Is it only for rules & data, or work also?
Index for rules & data is usually pretty quick and by re-doing, you'll make sure the process still properly work after your migration.
Last, by trying not to do, as soon as you'll get any single issue in this area, I guess you'll anyway redo it to see if this fixes your issue.
So maybe worth to do it to directly be on safe side.

Its for work also, so it gets pretty large. I'll test this in the coming weeks. But as you say, if there is any issue, everyone will like a redo of the index.
Maybe the best thing is to get rid of the work :)

we actually do not index work since it would be huge.
but there's certainly some good reasons to do it :)
