InsertClob function is failing after upgrade from pega 7.1.9 to 8.5.5

InserClob is the Function that was designed for my project in version 7.1.9 to insert a particular record that opens by using OBJ OPEN BY HANDLE and saves into another table in the db. now we have upgraded my project to pega version 8.5.5 and the same function is throwing an error like java nullpointer exception any suggestions why this happens after upgrade for our custom built functions?
