How do we scale up Kafka consuming data without the support of consumer group?

Hi,

 

While using the Kafka with Pega, how do we scale up Kafka consuming data from a topic without the support of consumer group? 

What is the # Partitions refer to when it consumes topic messages?

Will Kafka dataset able to read data via filtering of the message key?
