Help in understanding GenerateID in 8.5
Hi,
Since in 8.5.x Generate ID is not using pyLastReservedID i need to understand what the logic or have a look at the function generateID. But i am not able to find that function in any API or in DB function.
If anyone have idea on the logic behind the generateID do share.
Expectation from me is to start the case ID generate from certain number for certain case types.

@Sarath Prashanth I previously specialized the GenerateID activity to add some custom formatting and logic. This still works as expected...we use a prefix of a date stamp and then zero pad the unique incremented value.
Any case however that uses the out of box rule is now not working. That I can tell, the GenerateId function does not actually return a unique identifier anymore. For example, my prefix is PER, and I might get PER-1, PER-1001, PER-1002...or I might get PER-2, PER-2002. It seems somewhat random, but what I can tell for certain is that it is not unique. For example, a few months ago we created a case called PER-1, and today I created another PER-1, which ultimately overwrote the previously created case.

It still uses pyLastReservedID for id generation. Along with this, it uses deafult batch size parameter for increments. You can update pyLastReservedID of DATA-UNIQUEID instance of your preferred prefix to start from a specific series.
