Extracting more than 18 million using BIX. what is the best way to do without impacting performance

We were trying to extract 18 million records, but it gave us error saying Query time out.  So we increase BIX time out value in DSS and but we suspect it would take more hours to complete the extract. 

We thought we can divide into chunks, even then 18 million seems very large.   

Is there any way we can give max records to fetch for the single run of the Bix extract.  

Also please let me know the way to cancel the extract when we run the extract from Extract rule ->Run

Please advise on the best option
