Encrypt URL in email

Hi all,
we got the requirement from customers to send link to open an assignment via email. This is not complicated itself but we would like to encrypt this URL rather than sending URL in plain text. Is it possible to achieve such functionality? I know about JS function SafeURL but I am not sure how do similar thing on the server-side.
