Email listeners - use IMAP or POP3?
What do you think or your experience in using POP3 and/ or IMAP?
What is your recommended protocol for enterprise applications to process incoming emails using Pega email listeners?
What criteria would you suggest to determine which protocol to follow?
Is it advisable to use IMAP or POP3 when there are large attachments in an email?
I see on internet IMAP is advanced, can you shed light on how they work for large applications considering reliability, security, storage, etc.

Hi,
IMAP is considered as a reliable option for checking mails across multiple devices like laptop, mobile or any other smart devices. It ensure that all emails are properly maintained on the server and are in sync across multiple devices. Incase of POP3, it downloads the emails into the device and deletes it from the server.However if you are someone who hardly checks emails on any other desktops then you can use POP3 protocol.
In terms of security both support SSL/TLS connections but IMAP is more reliable because all the mails will be stored on the server which are well maintained with regular backups and there will be less chances of data loss in IMAP protocols.
