Easy way to test a function rule
Each time i try to test a function i have to use the expression builder in the DT/Activity.
Cant we test a function rule without using the expression builder by directly giving input and verifying the output like we do with other rules like Activities/DT/DP

Hi,
There is no easy way to test the functions, you will have to refer in the DT or Activities.
I assume its your custom function and not the ootb functions used in the expression builder

Which Pega version are you using? There is an updated Expression Builder in 7.2.2 that allows you to test in the way that you describe.
Below is an example where I have opened the expression builder from a property-set method in an activity. There is a test button at the top and as you can see I can enter my test value for the pyTempText property and the results is displayed at the top of the screen.
I am not sure that this is accessible outside of an Activity, but you could create a new test activity to get access to the Expression Builder and just not save it when you are finished.

I understand that there is no other way to test a function directly other than referring it in a DT/Activity.
I think its high time that we raise a feedback item to the product team for such a feature. Each time i have to test a function i have to either write an activity/a DT.
A run action on a function rule will be of great help.
