does pega 84 versin support declare index rule creation
Hi
Does pega 8.4 version support declare index rule creation, i tried to do it by right clicking on the property but shows the optimize the property for reporting option alone
if optimize for reporting option and declare index are same or does same thing ,
then in what occasion / special purpose we should go for creating the index class rules and mapping properties source to target, and index DB table creation??

Optimizing the property creates the new column in the database table. If that property is inside the pagelist and when we optimize it, declare index would be created for that pagelist.

when developer should go for "explicit/manual declare-index rules creation?
"only if the prerequisites are NOT met"
that is pega developer
1 creates data class and properties ,
2.maps the data class and properties to Externally created( by DB guy/deveper) DB table and coulmns in table
3.by using already configured pega Database Table ,
4. create declare index rule and map the properties under work- embedded pages with the source - target property mapping available in index rule

Hi,
Indexing can improve database performance and facilitate reporting. Create a Declare Index rule to define criteria under which the Pega Platform automatically maintains index instances for faster access. An index can improve search and reporting access for properties that cannot be exposed as database columns because they are embedded within an aggregate property.
As an alternative to completing the rule form, you can use the Property optimization tool to create the rule, properties, and other required instances.
Note: Index instances are sometimes called alternate keys or secondary keys. The system saves indexes as instances of concrete classes derived from the Index- base class.
You can also use SysAdmin >> Declare Index option to create Declare Index rules in Pega 8.4.
