Can someone, please make understand the difference between the data table and the database table.

When we create a data type and local  data storage a table will be created by Pega OOTB feature pzcreate  table for class

But I have seen and observed whenever we create a new class or property we send a request to the DB team to create a table  in the Database

Can someone please let me know when to go with Datatable and when to go with creating the table in Database?

When we create the Datatable with  local data storage why we need to ask DB team to create a table in the Database
