Difference between Collection and Activity

Hi,

I was going through the Collection rule and could not understand the difference between a collection rule and an activity. What ever can be done in a collection rule can also be done in an activity. What are the differences between them. Please help with a real time scenario as well.

@gudam I need real time scenarios where I could possibly use a collection rule which cannot be achieved by an activity. And the articles only specify of what is provided in help, I need more clarity on it.
