Choice of Pega as EAR OR WAR

Pega can be deployed in web server application as EAR or WAR. Suppose I am an Solution archites and want to deploy Pega in an Web server application. Can anyone tell me in which scenario shall we deploy it as WAR and i which scenario as EAR?
