Can we expose properties in Data Page using Declare Index?
I am used data page(Editable) as a source for repeating grid to capture the information from the user. i need to store this data in the DB. Instead of pushing to DB. I want push the data to Index table, by creating declare index.
Here i had question, can we expose properties in Data Page using Declare Index?
As per my knowledge we can use only page list or page group structure properties (means embedded properties) we can use in declare expression.
1. If we can not use data pages in declare index rule, then what is the reason?
2. If we can use both data pages and embedded pages in declare expression, then what is the difference between data pages and embedded pages in declare expression?
Can any one help me on this.

Hello,
I've never tried what you are describing, but conceptually, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do this. If you can persist an object, it should be able to trigger the index on save or committed save. What are the problems you are running into when you try it? It would be helpful to know the errors/have some details around how you've configured things to give you some better guidance.

I'm having trouble understanding this question.
On one hand, the expression "expose properties" often means have a dedicated db column so the property isn't only relegated to the blob. But I don't think that's what you're referring to here.
So maybe by "expose properties in data page using declare index" you mean you want that every time a certain property is changed on your data page, you want the property written to some index table?
For that to work, several things all need to happen properly. Here are some:
1) The class of the page on which you are changing the property needs to match the class specified in the declare-index rule.
2) The page on which you are changing the property needs to be obj-save'd since that's when declare-index is fired.
3) A commit needs to occur to persist the index record.
In summary, if you explain a bit more about what you're trying to do, maybe a better answer can be given. Thanks. /Eric
