Can a traditional Pega UI and Cosmos UI co-exist in the same aapplication? What are their essential differences?

We are looking for a migration of Pega traditional UI to Cosmos UI in 8.4. So we are looking for a few answers- 

1. Can one single application have both COMOS UI and traditional UI screens?  The reason is because 1)  we want some major screens to be tested first and 2) migration of all screens within the application can take some time and effort.

2. What are the things that we will get from COMOS UI that we cannnot if we use Pega UI Kit in 8.4? Is there a predefined list that we can get?
