Best-practice Segregating Agents and Listeners with WebSphere

We are deploying our Pega PRPC EAR-files into WebSphere Application Server cells/clusters with good results. Now, we want to define node types for servers running agents and listeners only, and have these deployed on separate application servers, which are not members of any cluster receiving requests from users.

Is this just a matter of mapping the non-war modules in the PRPC EAR to separate application-servers or is there more involved? What is the best practise?

While having dedicated node for agents and listeners is a good ( and recommended ) approach, I am not too sure whether having them as part of different app server alltogether will work or not .
