Auto-Complete control validaiton on modal dialog

we have an autocomplete on the modal window as a page list. if the user picks the value from autocomplete and changes the text after he picks we need to display validation. How to achieve this ?

I went through that article and it is working only on a single page[non-master details sections] but not on a modal dialog. we have screen flow so added the script on screen flow harness works fine on non-master details sections.
