Attachment size is getting increased after encoding it

 while attaching some attachments in work object, I was encoding it to send through a service, but the size of the file is getting increased. 

 Can someone help me with this.

Do you mean 'base64' encoding here ? If so ; it is expected that the object-size will increase (as a trade-off for getting a 'BLOB' of binary data represented in  rintable characters )
