The "Run Activity" option for the Onclick action will execute the activity as an AJAX call. You can try using Refresh Section and reference the download activity. That should send the response to the browser.

thank you so mucchhh for this suggesstion.I was struck since past 1 day becoz the file was not getting downloaded properly. I am unable to apply the report definition filters applied by the user on the UI when it is opened from this button. Pls suggest
