Access Database from host machine for LSA VM
Hi,
I've been trying to access my database on the LSA VM and haven't had much luck, these are the steps I have taken so far
1. edited postgresql.conf to listen to my host ip address
2. edited postgresql client authetication config file to have a trust for my host ip
3. downloaded pgadmin and given the server details and port number for a new connection, im using the port specifcied for the app server, that doesn't work. I noticed there is a different port in the postgresql.conf file, i tried using this with the same ip and this didn;t work either.
any idea what i've missed?

Hi,
steps I use (the path may change for your configuration):
- edit /var/lib/pgsql/9.4/data/postgresql.conf
- Change or uncomment
listen_addresses = ’localhost’ to listen_addresses = ’*’
post = 5432
- Change or uncomment
- edit /var/lib/pgsql/9.4/data/pg_hba.conf
- add line:
host all all Proprietary information hidden/0 trust
- add line:
- restart postgres
- systemctl restart postgresql-9.4

Connect to PVS using pgAdmin: postgres/postgres

Hi Damien,
my VM is now displaying the url of http://:9080 so I can't access anything..., I've only been chnaging the db conf files? So not sure why this has happened if you have ever seen this?
I've set listen_addressesses to '*', litrally, assuming the * doesn't stand for something else
and pg_hba.conf to host all all Proprietary information hidden/0 trust,
again assuming tht Proprietary information hidden/0 doesn't stand for something else, like ,my own ip
the restart command doesn't work, so i stopped and started the vm.
problem is now the vm doesn't seem to be hosting my instance correctly, so i can't test this new configration

Hi Anna,
could you drop an email to [email protected]?
We will be able to help. The IP address resolution has nothing to do with Postgres, I would say.
Could you reverse your changes and see and then contact us?
