Overview

The following Microsoft security update prevents Pega Robotic Automation from working with applications on Windows Server 2025 and Windows 11, version 24H2 and 25H2.  

• KB5124008 (released on September 8, 2026)

This issue affects Pega Native Foundation (PNF) which is used by all versions of Pega Robot Studio and Pega Robot Runtime.

The Robotics team is working on an update to PNF that will avoid the problems caused by this Microsoft update. We will release a PNF update as soon as we have fully tested it. Until then, do not install this Microsoft update. 

Update: September 17, 2026

Microsoft released the cumulative security update KB5129195 on September 14, 2026. Because Windows security updates are cumulative, this update includes the changes introduced in KB5124008, which caused problems for Pega Robot Studio and Pega Robot Runtime.

Future cumulative updates may also include these changes. As a result, if you install KB5129195 or later cumulative Microsoft updates, you might continue to experience this issue.

The Robotics team is working on a resolution to this issue, and we expect to release an update to Pega Native Foundation shortly.

Until the Pega Native Foundation update is available, do not install KB5129195 or later cumulative Microsoft updates on systems that use Pega Robot Studio or Pega Robot Runtime.

How to tell if you are affected by this issue

You are affected by this issue if you receive an error that says:

The Process <Application> failed to start within the given timeframe.

This error indicates that Pega Robot Studio or Pega Robot Runtime is unable to start the application or the process that you are automating.
