The task is to generate the PDF files. Is there any alternative for PDF 2 HTML for Pega?

We have the big project running and we must generate a number of PDF files. We're currently using the OOTB HTML2PDF activity but we ran into some problems with this on PROD environment. Long story short: PDF files are created but for some reason being left in the directory and never got released and closed. It happens only for some files, not for all but anyway it eats a lot of HW resources and we have to restart PROD every second day.
We are now looking for the alternative solution to generate the PDFs. Some ideas are use PDF Reactor or Baeldung java to pdf solution.
The question: does anyone have experience with some other except OOTB solutions for PDF generation? Any advices?

If you really need to restart the pega machine every other day, I don't know if any other java library is going to help you. I don't have any experience with other html 2 pdf generators, but I have used PDFBox from Apache to merge different pdfs into one. It also took massive resources and regularly failed to complete the task.
Looking outside the pega box, there are services you can call for generating a pdf from html. These are paid services, so you would need to check for pricing.
You can also check for alternatives you need to host yourself. There are a lot of open source frameworks for a lot of different languages you can configure for yourself.
My advice for this matter? Move the pdf generation to another system and let pega make a service call. But you should discuss this issue with the business / enterprise architect and provide them with the options you have, the benefits / drawbacks and let them decide in the end what to do.
