Can Pega read BLOB from External table

We would like to know if Pega is capable of writing and reading pzpvstream blob in external table. If yes, please assist with detailed steps to achieve it. The Database is a CustomerData DB and we are using MS SQL server. Also, when creating pzpvstream column in SQL DB, what should be its Datatype?
