Kafka messages database table

Does Pega 8.2 keep/persist Kafka message to database after it read/receive from Kafka?   We want to find way to check whether the application has see the message before; i.e. duplicate check.

Does Pega persist Kafka message to database before ack back to Kafka to commit the offset?  We want to prevent message lost in case of hardware failure or Pega node crashes.
