How to send or receive document data through Json Rest API

our client has built mobile API using Xamarin and Pega platform is used as web tool. client have a requirement to view/download documents attached to case from mobile and also any documents uploaded via mobile app to transfer into Pega and attach to respective case.

Appreciate, if any one can advice how to exchange file data via json and supported file types.
