With reference to update guide:

If you need to move from any version prior to Pega 7.1.0, you must upgrade.

If planning your update any Pega 7.1.x version to the most current release, run the update

Benefits for updates:

In update is a new distribution image that contains cumulative fixes and enhancements to the product since Pega 7.1.0

Pros:

• Updates are smaller and faster than upgrades
• Updates manage superseded hotfixes
• Many updates can be reversed

Cons:

• Updates do not include updated help
• Updates do not include additional products(Pega Web Mashup (formerly Internet Application Composer (IAC)) or Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX),

If the Source System: Pega v7.1.x and Target System: Pega v7.2.X. Optimal solution after the installation of Pega v7.2.X, before deploying the customized application rules - is to perform update options to include cumulative fixes and enhancements related to product v7.1.x version to the most current release before Pega v7.2.x

Please clarify the following points:

1. Does pega updates include DSM strategic apps, which was part of the Pega platform Pega in Pega 7? Any suggestions?

2. Do we need to upgrade any features related to DSM after update? (Or) it would be covered as part of updates?

3. Do update options are applicable for pega strategic applications like pega marketing, NBAA and Pega CPM? Checking whether we need to perform separate pega updates for strategic applications (or) It will be consider as upgrade only for strategic applications
