Can anyone explain what is Remote casetype and what are its uses?
What happens when we enable remote casetype option while creating a casetype?

This is federated case management and this is useful when case has to be launched from totally different application (Think of NBAM application creating a case remotely in other application) Only the case types published as 'Remote case' will be available to select from other applications to launch. please read in PDN for some examples and videos.

No. we can use this between PEGA 7 cases only. we can publish properties that can be used by other applications in the federation using the advanced tab in case type.
