DevOps Release Manager Pack and implementation

We are implementing DevOps and preparing the environment for installation of DevOps Accelerator pack (Release Manager Pack).

  1. However we don’t have any separate Pega 7 instance other than the development to install this separately, can you please let us know If there are any issues you have faced/ any concerns before going for this DevOps installation in the same Development instance? (We understand many existing PEGA-RULES will be updated with this DevOps implementation).
  2. Before installation we are taking a backup of the Data and Rule schema, however in case of rollback we would need to Roll back to the save point via DB restore(activating the old save point). Is there any other process known to roll back the introduced rule changes, since the above concept would completely rollback the DB to a save point costing the day’s work and created Workobject.

Any quick response is highly appreciated.

Hi,

The platform DevOps, Deployment Manager, is available from Pega 7.3 onwards.

You can download and start using it from here.

DevOps Accelerator Pack, Presto, or 7.1/7.2 Deployment Manager is all one component / tool, but has multiple name / references. This was built for the customers on Pega 7.1 & 7.2 only.

The platform DevOps / deployment manager is the supported product and is evolving with every release of Pega. We would recommend you to take a look at this component and start leveraging it.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. 

I have gone through the instructions for 7.2 Deployment Manager as per the link, but it doesn't give any special instructions or roll-back procedure in case of any issues. We are using PRPC 7.2.2 version and planning to install this DevOps pack on the same 7.2.2. Dev instance. Since other development work is going on this instance, we don't want any risk while installing this DevOps pack in the same instance. 

Are there any special instructions to follow?

Hi Nagi,

DevOps Accelerator pack for 7.1 & 7.2 doesn't have the roll-back capability.

But, there are extension points before and after import/export mechanism from where you can implement your desired functionality like Roll-back,any automation testing etc.
