PRPC 7.2- Java Upgrade to what version? Latest or Not?
Hi
Our Java version is stating that there are updates available. My question is what exact version of Java can we upgrade to? The Product Support Guide simply states that our version is compatible with J
Our versions are ;
Java 1.8.0_91 (Oracle)
Apache Tomcat 8
PRPC 7.2
Windows Server 2012 R2
The latest version of Java is 1.8.0_152, when we went live with our system we were advised by Pega not to upgrade to the latest version of Java. But not given any recommendations on which versions are considered suitable to upgrade to.
Thanks
Mark
Hi Mark,
After cross checking the Platform Support Guide i couldn't find any information stating not to upgrade to latest Java version, but i found the below information in page 17,
Pega Platform requires the use of the Java 7 or Java 8 specification (depending upon the version of Pega Platform, as shown in the charts above). Each of the Java vendors will routinely issue maintenance that addresses security, performance, and stability issues in the JDK. Pegasystems recommends that this maintenance be applied on a periodic basis; customers’ JDKs should never be more than a year behind current JDK maintenance levels.
I think you can use the stable update copy of Java as their might be some side effects in the latest updates nor it might not be tested by Pega at the time of our Product release.
May be you check with your respective person who suggested this information to get more details about it.
