Firebase Cloud Message to support for push notification
Does Pega 7.2.2 supports Google Firebase Cloud Message (FCM) for push notification from Pega to Andriod device which are using Pega custom hybrid mobile application?
we are building a Pega custom build hybrid container pega mobile application, and there trying to send push notification. When we are referring the help it is saying below

- Sender ID – a Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) services identifier used to authenticate an Android custom mobile app with the Android Push Notification Integration services.
- Server API Key – a key used by the server to authenticate with the Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) services.
To obtain these values, log in to the Google Developer Console website, select an existing project or create a new project, and enable the Google Cloud Messaging for Android in the APIs section. Refer to the Google Developer documentation for assistance with this process.

Now instead of using Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) services (which is paid service), we want to use Google Firebase Cloud Message (which is free). The question is does Pega supports it. for us it is not working when we are using FCM Server API Key and Project ID.

This is the same question asked by one of your colleagues: https://pdn.pega.com/community/product-support/question/there-any-way-configure-push-notification-custom-mobile-app. We do not seem to support it yet (no references to firebase in my internal search either). James probably can confirm that.

Yes it does. Project can be set up in Firebase or GCM and push notifications sent by Pega server will reach Android device running Pega Mobile Client.
Note that if you want to test sending notifications from outside Pega the following methods work:
- GCM console
- Firebase REST API
For some reason push notifications sent from Firebase console don't reach mobile device. It seems to be an issue with Firebase console as their REST API works fine.
Keys can be obtained from Firebase by navigating to Project Settings -> Cloud Messaging:
- Sender ID
- Server Key (it's the shorter one called 'old server key' in my console)
