Can we encrypt the database password in prcontext.xml

We need to encrypt the password in prcontext.xml file. We have gone through the below article from PDN.

The above link describes the password encryption process for prconfig.xml. Will the same apply for prcontext.xml file too.

Is there any separate process for encrypting the password for prcontext.xml

We are using PRPC V5.5 GA, 6.1 SP1 and 6.1 SP2.

I believe keyring should do the job for prcontext.xml, if not then you can use passgen tool.

Keyring is for prconfig.xml, passgen is for prbootstrap.properties.  If you want to encrypt the password in context.xml then that is a question for the application server.

Hi Celeste_D,

We are looking to encrypt the database password in context.xml file.

Could you please tell me what needs to be done for encrypting the password in context.xml, could you please elaborate on what needs to be done from application server perspective.

We are using Tomcat application server.

Well, encrypting database password in context.xml is something not supported by PRPC. You might have to have a custom cipher handling code at your server to deal with it.
