"Do not save property data" advanced option
Hi,
in our project we have some scenarios where the application must show some data to the operators.
Such data is retrieved by data pages which accept parameters.
Parameters are available in the work item.
The user can select rows from the shown list.
It is useful to use properties to copy data from data pages (as shown in the attached screenshot).
We must copy data from data pages since the user can select some rows so we need editable pages.
However the read data will be saved together with the work item, generating two issues:
1) The data will not be refreshed again, potentially showing stale data
2) The work object size could grow significantly, impacting the performance
It would be useful to have the "Do not save property data" advanced option in order to prevent the cited issues.
However the "Do not save property data" is not available when the "Data access" is set to "Copy data from a data page" (the attached screenshot shows this option: it is a syntetic image which shows what we would like to have, not what it is).
Is it possible to have the "Do not save property data" advanced option also for the "Copy data from a data page" data access mode?

Agree. We need to use refer to data page/copy from data page options based on business requirement. I would suggest you to use refer to data page which takes paramters and bring the from source when it is needed. If you have requirement to track changes to data, I would recommned you to maintain transaction database table which stores updates to data. this way you can reduce size of the work object.
For any reason, if you have to use copy from data page option, then I would suggest you to use declare index which persists page/pagelist data into other declerative tables. This way, atleast your report queries will run faster and you can minimize need of opening the blob.
Both the options has pros and cons and designed to meet specfic requirments. Let me know if i'm missing your requirement.
