You can, just take care of server ports so that these dont conflict.

Yes, agree with Arvind, Also you need to check if you have enough free space in your system

I have enough free space,at around 20gb, at drive c.can I install 7.1.7 in c drive?I already install 6.3 in c drive.I will not run the 6.3 and 7.1.7 at the same time, will it require to change the port number at the time of 7.1.7 installation?

You are good if you do not run both at same time...you can keep PRPC in any drive ( even same drive)

If you are using the same database for installing both 6.3 and 7.1.7, then please make sure that if UDFs are present, they are from 7.1.7 only.

How to know that UDFs are present or not.I had installed PRPC 6.3 personal edition and I will also install PRPC 7.1.7 personal edition. They probably install the same DB viz postgresql but version's are different. So what will happen to 6.3 DB,will it not work correctly.
Does anyone actually install two different version of PRPC in same system.pls help.

If both are different database instances, you don't need to worry. Only if you are using the same DB instance but installing PRPC 6.3 and 7.1.7 in different schemas of the same DB instance, then this needs to be considered.
If the function pr_read_from_stream is available in DB from the user that PRPC uses, then UDFs are installed.

We have multiple Pega application running in a single physical system with multiple nodes.(We have around 50 nodes(10 applications) running on 4 physical boxes) All of them point to the same database with different schema names. If you wanted to run multiple instances then you need to running on different ports & need to have enough memory & a better processor.

I have some 7.1.x installations (tomcat) and a 6.3sp1 installation, all on the same drive, different folders. They all use the same port numbers, and different schemas in the same oracle db.
I put shortcuts on my windows7 start menu for starting one of them at a time, and when I click the shortcut it runs a DOS window to show the output running log. I find this convenient compared to running it as a service since I can just bring up the DOS window to look for messages, and I often don't even have to "open the log file".
I have ONE shortcut on each of my browsers (chrome and ie) called MY-SYSTEM-OF-THE-DAY which brings up a login window for whatever system happens to be loaded at the moment.
One thing I have to sometimes do though, is, if I run 6.3sp1 and log in, at first it seems hung, and then I remember "oh yeah, I have to go into the tools - > compatibility page of ie and put the system in the "compatibility" list. Also, for some of the 7.1.x systems, if need to use SMA, I have to run them on ie instead of chrome. /Eric
