LSA UI/UX: Learning, Certification, and Skills
Could you please point us to where we can get started with learning Cosmos and its relation to case management?
You can start here: https://academy.pega.com/mission/pega-user-experience-ux-essentials/v1
Also, can we have a detailed tutorial in PDN about the configuration and implementation of DX API? I understand Pega's courses cannot cover ReactJS modules, but the PEGA specific components/configurations at least can be covered in it.
Here is the documentation for v1 DX API documentation: https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/articles/pega-digital-experience-dx-api-version-1-overview/pega-digital-experience-dx-api-version-1-overview
Any change to have UI/UX Pega Certification back?
Because the skill set needed is more industry-standard rather than Pega specific, we are not expecting to offer a certification for Pega UI.
Can you please give example of business logic embedded into sections currently and how you are solving it going forward? With the new UI/UX, can we still use tracer to debug issues? As a Pega developer, should I learn ReactJS to work in the future?
1/ visible when in section is creating business logic in the ui 2/ yes tracer will continue to work when using the DX API 3/ no you should not have to learn React to build an app
Can we have a lab where we can play with Cosmos?
You can request a trial Community Edition instance here: https://community.pega.com/get-started/community-edition
Do we have a plan to create a UI/UX specialist course which helps to do some hands-on?
You can start here: https://academy.pega.com/mission/pega-user-experience-ux-essentials/v1 A Pega front-end foundation mission is coming in Q4 2020.
Do we have a Sandbox sort of env where we can get some hands on?
On Pega Cloud, if you have Pega 8.5 installed, the UI service is pre-installed on your dev node.
Do we have cloud or beta version available for early peek into this cosmos Pega UI framework, so that we can explore this?
Does Cosmos UI mean LSAs have to become JavaScript experts and know React, Angular etc. to be able to work with it?
No. For a normal project, you should not have to learn React. Most of the components that you will need will be provided by the platform - React skillset will be needed if you need a special component that is not provided OTB.
Is there a Pega Cosmos react demo application available for us to play around in Pega academy or something we can download in exchange to use it in personal edition?
Not yet – Cosmos React is a preview in 8.5 – Some Pega Academy courses will be available post 8.6 for Cosmos React
Are there plans to introduce a design showcase similar to what most design systems have to help users learn and socialize the design system?
https://design.pega.com is the showcase. We are working on a complete rebuild of this site to showcase the new React based UI rendering.
It appears that business users need to be retrained as we cannot mimic the current UI layouts in Cosmos after migration. Can you confirm?
Business users will need to use app studio and the new authoring UI to make application changes. There will be some re-training needed
Starting in Pega 8.6, does a developer need React knowledge to modify UI according to business need?
No
What sort of extra skills (in native tech such as JavaScript) will the general project team members need for the average project?
For a normal project, you should not have to learn React. Most of the components that you will need will be provided by the platform - React skillset will be needed if you need a special component that is not provided OTB.
