Export Application from Web, Import to VM
Hi,
I have been doing the exercises on the web exercise system. However, I want to switch to the vm that I downloaded, and want to import the application I have created so far to the vm.
I have searched the forum, and followed the links about application package manager. I can export a zip file from the web system, however, whenever I import it to the vm, I do not see any artifacts created on the vm.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
How do you manage to get the zip file?
Could you explain the process you are following?
Thanks

Hi Damien,
I have used the following menu:
DesignerStudio->Application->Application->Distribution->Package
I could follow the steps and export a zip, but when I import that zip, nothing is being created.

Lucky you, when I package something I am not able to download the archive (404 resource not found)
Anyway, I doubt you can do this because the 2 systems are completely different.
The cloud is using multi-tenancy.
Importing an archive created in PVS into the cloud is impossible. I never tried the other way but I doubt...

I also got (404 resource not found), yet while I was browsing some other pages I could access the zip file.
I am really new to the platform, but does this mean:
A customer won't be able to develop using their vm and deploy on a multi-tenancy production environment?

Not sure if it is technically feasible, but I wonder in which situation you would want to have a multi-tenant setup. Pega Academy is an exception to this, as it has to handle rapid creation/removal of prpc server instances. What would a normal company use that for?

I have a meeting with an IT company at the end of this month, who plans to provide BPM to it's customer's from their on-premise data center. It will basically be an on premise BPM on Cloud implementation. They might go for a multi-tennant architecture, so in this case, they might face issues?
Why would architecture affect how a package is exported/imported?

Generally it shouldn't have any affect. Most likely they are different because of the way the packing wizard was run in regards to the specific version of Pega 7 being used.

If you use the export wizard and only export the top application rules set it will work if you create the same application (but empty) in your other system. This way you can also import into the cloud system.
