CLSA Community: Common Data Model for Pega Platform and Pega Apps [February 2024]
In our first online event for 2024, learn about the Common Data Model, which provides a unified and prescriptive approach for structuring the entities and relationships most commonly used by Pega's strategic applications and client Platform applications.
This event explores the types of data and relationships included and the technical design patterns implemented for saving, refreshing, and searching data, as well as integrating with other systems of record. The sessions also discuss how to extend the Common Data Model, and include demonstrations of the CDM in action and suggest the opportunities to adopt the CDM into Platform applications going forward.

@BraamSmithCLSA I have a question regarding this topic. How should we handle this situation:
Lets say I create a new reference type called ABC so the class will be Common-LDM-Reference-ABC.
In the next version of Common application Pega also introduces the same reference type called ABC.
When we import the new Common application I expect it to fail when trying to import the same class.
We're currently looking at how we can implement the reference type at our org layer to avoid such scenarios. (ex. Org-Data-Reference-ABC. Org-Data-Reference has direct inheritance to Common-LDM-Reference). What are your thoughts on this?

@TrickyRicky Great question! Your suggestion to use a class structure that is org-specific has historically been the best practice for this sort of situation: CDM or otherwise.
Another variant of this is to introduce Common-LDM-Reference-[OrgName] so that you still have directed inheritance available, provided that you feel that [OrgName] is not likely to cross paths with an entity type that CDM may introduce. Beware that there is ultimately a limit on the length of your class names, so it is a trade-off.
