Ask the Expert - Real-Time Agile with Suman Kumar Bhowmick
Join @SumanKumar as he answers your questions on Real-Time Agile in Pega, pertaining to:
- Agile Workbench
- Integrating Agile Workbench with Agile Studio, Jira, Rally, etc
- Features
Meet Suman: Suman is the Senior Product Manager for App Studio who takes care of Real time Agile, Express methodology and App Studio. He has been with Pega since more than 5 years out of his 16 years of experience. Prior to Pega he was with NCR.
Message from Suman: Real time Agile in Pega is closely associated with Agile Workbench. It enables business stakeholders to provide feedback and requirements from right inside the app and then automatically translates the feedback into agile artifacts like user stories, bugs. And the best thing is that if needed the Agile workbench can be integrated with 3rd party agile project management tools like Jira and Rally through our marketplace. Know more about agile workbench and feel free to post your questions here on this amazing feature.
Looking forward to a great engagement.

Hello,
My team is investigating the possibility of using Agile Work Bench in order to better track the changes made in code to the user stories created in agile central. We currently have Pega 7.3 in place and it only seems to support the first version of Agile Work Bench, according to this table (https://community.pega.com/marketplace/components/agile-workbench-integration-ca-agile-central-rally):
Our main goal with this is to be able to link objects in Pega to User Stories in Agile Central. In essence, we would like to be able to tell which objects have been altered due to each US. For example:
US1 - Objects X, Y and Z have been altered
US2 - Objects A, X, and C have been altered
My main question is: What is the difference between each version? Does Agile Work Bench provide more features in version 6 than in version 1? Where can I find documentation about what each version is capable of? Is it even possible to achieve the goal I have mentioned above with Agile Workbench?
Thank you very much for your help in advance

Hi @bmeurer,
Not all versions have feature additions. Few of these versions have minor updates to fix bugs, or changes to meet the new platform version needs. Having said that we have few enhancements added in between as well. You can have a look at the implementation guide links beside to observe the differences.
Regarding your other query related to traceability, it can be achieved through application features. You can map features with user stories in Agile Workbench. And then use the user stories while checking in the rules. Later you can view the rule changes in the feature definition. You can have a look at the following help documents for more details.

Suman

In one of our recent engagements, we were using Agile studio to manage backlog. The preferred enterprise project management tool for the client is Jira.
We were able to address most of their concerns and have leveraged Agile studio, workbench effectively.
Problem:
Enterprise Integration team is using Jira and we are using Agile Studio. When we had to mark a dependency such as a predecessor or successor, it was not possible. We had to create a dummy project in jira and had to manage it there.
Is there any better way to handle this situation?

Hi @Raju_Botu
This can be easily solved by using Agile Workbench Integration with Jira. You can use Jira as its preferred project management in your organisation. You can find more about it here: https://community.pega.com/marketplace/components/agile-workbench-integration-jira

@SumanKumar thank you for the response.
Problem here is a bit different. Pega team is using Agile Studio and enterprise team is using Jira. Our Agile work bench is integrated with Agile studio.
Issue is when we have to mark a predecessor or successor or a dependency.
