Accessing both 7.1 and 8.5

Hi,

We are planning to rewrite an application from 7.1.8 to 8.5. For 1st phase, few case types will be rewritten and move to prod. So, customer wants to access both 7.1.8 and 8.5 for features like GMU, worklist, reports etc when they are working in 8.5.

We are looking for possible approaches which will not have any performance impact or any other issues while accessing both the 7.1 and 8.5 instances.
