Purpose / usage of optimize Clipboard

What's the purpose of Optimize Clipboard option available under pagination configuration of grids which are configured to load progressively? context help does not specify anything about this.

Hello Sricharank, 

I assume you are using Pega7. There is a means to control the number of results stored in the Clipboard when using a Repeating Grid with progressive scrolling. This feature is called "Optimize Clipboard". Currently, the "Optimize Clipboard" feature is only supported for Report Definition sourced repeat grid with read only or modal dialog edit mode. If the source is property or data page, then the property needs to have all the records, even if optimize clipboard option was there, the original property from which grid is sourced had to hold all the records, making the optimized clipboard page list a redundant one.
